Social Governments Award

The Social Governments Award is an annual award designed to motivate and encourage government entities to utilize social media tools in effective and innovative ways. This ensures the enhancement of government communication with citizens and businesses to achieve development and prosperity

The Social Governments Award aims to highlight successful experiences in digital government communication through social media platforms across the Arab world and their role in achieving innovative future visions. This approach emphasizes innovation and creativity in delivering government services to citizens and business sectors, with the goal of strengthening community engagement.

Application Process for the 2025 Award

  • October 1, 2025 – Opening of nominations for the 2025 award cycle.
  • November 30, 2025 – Deadline for submitting the intention to apply for the award.
  • December 31, 2025 – Deadline for registration and submission of application files.
  • January 1, 2026 – Start of the first phase of project evaluation.
  • January 15, 2026 – Start of the second phase of the judging committee’s review.
  • February 15, 2026 – Notification of winning entities.
  • April 27, 2026 – Award ceremony and honoring of winners in Duabi.

The Social Governments Award aims to highlight successful experiences in digital government communication through social media platforms across the Arab world and their role in achieving innovative future visions. Other objectives include the following:

  • Benefiting from pioneering Arab experiences in the use of social networks.
  • Providing an annual Arab forum to exchange best practices and successful experiences in the field.
  • Enhancing continuous development methods and improving the performance efficiency of Arab government entities.
  • Publishing a technical report outlining best practices and standards for implementation at the Arab and regional levels.

The award covers all government institutions across the Arab world, divided into ministries and government agencies. The categories include:

  2. Best Social Media Official in Government Institutions.
  3. Best Arab Government Social Media Platform.
  4. Best Social Media Content.
  5. Best AI-Powered Communication.

Award Nomination Guidelines

If an entity wishes to apply for the award, a nomination request must be submitted under the following terms and conditions:

  1. The institution must be a government entity operating within the administrative system of an Arab country.
  2. The nomination must include comprehensive information about the institution and its online presence.
  3. Participation in the award nomination requires an administrative fee for each category.
  4. There are no administrative fees for nominating individuals for the Arab Government Figures Award.
  5. The award’s technical committee reserves the right to reject any nomination that does not meet the eligibility criteria.

Evaluation Criteria

Winners are selected based on a set of global standards, and all Arab government entities can compete according to the specified categories. The evaluation process consists of two phases:

  • First Phase: The award’s technical committee, composed of experts in the field, analyzes all nominated submissions and prepares a technical report for each entity based on evaluation criteria.
  • Second Phase: The reports are handed over to the judging panel, which reviews the results, examines the submitted projects, and conducts direct interviews with institution representatives to determine the winners in each sector.

The technical committee and the judging panel rely on international standards for the use of social media, including UN standards, EU standards, and US standards.

Award Nomination Criteria

If one of the organizations wishes to nominate for the award, please follow these terms and conditions:

  1. The institution must be a governmental institution that follows the administrative apparatus of an Arab country.
  2. The nomination must be accompanied by comprehensive information about the institution and its presence on the Internet.
  3. Participation in the nomination for the award requires a financial administrative fee for each category.
  4. There is no administrative fee for nominating for the Arab Government Figures Award.
  5. The Technical Secretariat of the Award has the right to exclude any participation application if it does not comply with the conditions.

Evaluation Criteria

Winners are selected based on a set of international criteria, and all Arab government entities are eligible to compete according to the specified categories. The evaluation process is divided into two stages:

  • First Stage: The Technical Secretariat of the Award, which consists of a group of specialists in the field, analyzes all the works nominated for the award and prepares a technical report for each entity according to the evaluation criteria.
  • Second Stage: The reports are submitted to the Arbitration Committee to review the results, examine the submitted works, and schedule direct meetings with the officials of the institutions applying for the award to select the winning entities for each sector.

The Technical Secretariat and the Arbitration Committee rely on a set of international criteria in the field of social media use, such as: United Nations criteria, European Union criteria, and American criteria.
