The “Tik Tok” platform has become the fastest growing platform in the Middle East, and more than 30 government agencies and 50 personalities are competing to win the Social Governments Award in its first session.
Social Governments Institute recently conducted a study on TikTok platforms, where the study indicated that TikTok has become the fastest growing platform in the Middle East, and it has even ranked second in many Arab countries. Despite this rapid growth, all Arab governments are adopting a policy of avoiding its use, due to reservations about the content of TikTok and its policies.
The institute added that more than 30 government agencies are competing in its first session to win the Social Governments Award, where there is effective competition in the health sector, followed by the communications and information technology sector. The competition also includes more than 50 prominent government figures for the “Personalities” award, which reflects the remarkable technological development in the performance of government communication and the provision of services through digital platforms.
Social Governments Institute has revealed that it has appointed a Arbitration Committee that includes representatives from five Arab countries: the UAE, Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. The committee members are public figures and experts in the field of information technology, digital communication, and media. The formation of the committee is characterized by regional balance and representation of diverse experiences, which enhances maturity and experience in evaluating the participating works.
The institute indicated that the Social Governments Award is presented in four main categories: content, platforms, applications, and honoring the best government figures on social media. This diversity in the categories highlights the dedication to appreciating excellence in various aspects of government performance on the social and digital scene.
Eng. Ahmed Sabry, the general manager of the institute, also clarified that more than fifteen technical criteria have been set for the arbitration standards, divided between main and sub-criteria. The arbitration committee worked diligently to develop these criteria to be clear and accurate, with a focus on identifying standard criteria for future social government performance. All candidates were informed of the evaluation criteria, which enhances transparency and awareness of strengths and challenges.
He added that in the context of the competition between government figures, which are nominated by the Secretariat of the winner and which included all ministers of the Arab countries. Where 50 personalities were chosen and nominated from among them, the focus was on their personal presence on social media.
It is worth noting that the social government figures criterion focused on the impact of the government figure in society through social media platforms, their spread and presence, and the nature of the initiatives they launch, in addition to the creativity in implementing those initiatives. No less important is that the effective interaction with citizens and the quick response to their inquiries and comments have been verified.
In conclusion, the Social Governments Institute confirms, as a leading institution in providing a package of different services directed at government sector institutions in the field of social governments and building institutional capacities for digital transformation, that these criteria and the launch of the award ultimately aim to raise the level of Arab government communication to a standard level, which encourages making the citizen an effective, interactive, planning and thinking partner with his state, with the aim of creating a better future for Arab countries using modern means of communication.
