Social Governments Award 2023

At the beginning of January 2023, the management of the Social Government Institute (SGI LLC) launched the Social Government Award. This award aims to encourage government institutions to utilize social media tools in an effective and innovative manner, enhancing community engagement through digital platforms.

The process began with selecting the General Secretariat of the Judging Committee, composed of distinguished public figures and experts in government communication. Once the committee members were carefully chosen, the next step was to establish the award’s criteria and judging foundations, ensuring impartiality and transparency—core principles of the General Secretariat. These criteria were designed to align with international and global standards.

The award for this year includes four categories:

  • Best Government Social Media Platform Award.
  • Best Creative Social Media Content Award.
  • Best Specialized Application Award.
  • Best Government Personality on Social Media Award.

The nomination for the award was announced in May 2023, and the registration and submission process began for all sectors across various ministries and government agencies from different Arab countries.

The nomination phase closed in August 2023, marking the beginning of an intensive process by the General Secretariat of the Judging Committee to filter the submitted entries and select the most outstanding ones. By October and November, the committee collaborated with its members to determine the Best of the Best, conducting meetings with nominees to exchange insights and questions.

In its first year, the award recognized Eight Winning Ministries from five Arab countries—Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, and Tunisia. Additionally, Eight Distinguished Government Officials from across the Arab world were honored for their impactful presence on social media platforms.

The official press statement for the Social Government Award was broadcast across various media outlets and Arab news agencies.

The Social Government Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Intercontinental City Stars – Alhambra Hall, Egypt. The event was attended by a distinguished group of leading figures in the field of government communication.
